Community Service

Africana Studies works closely with and strongly supports the initiatives for experiential learning, including doing community work, run through the office of the Director of the Center for Learning in Action. For a listing of some of these opportunities, see here.

Africana faculty and BSU students are especially involved in working with the Greylock ABC House, part of the national A Better Chance organization dedicated to “to substantially increase the number of under-represented youth assuming positions of responsibility and leadership in American society.” For opportunities to work with this program see the Greylock ABC website.

The Chaplain’s Office at Williams, the Center for Community Engagement, and other groups on campus are also active in the local community.

If you are interested in pioneering your own community service project, please contact either the Director of the Center for Learning in Action or the Chair of the Africana Program.
